Does your picture book story feel “slight”? Does it feel like it just isn’t going anywhere? What you need is layers. Adding them to your manuscript will give it richness and depth— and most importantly “re-readability”. The marketability of your story increases with every layer, and it becomes all the more enticing to your readers, agents and editors. In this workshop, award-winning author Wendi Silvano will discuss 4 must-have layers and 15 additional types of layers that might fit your story—giving it extra depth and delight.

Santa was a day late, but what a gift he brought! He “touched-down” with TURKEY’S FALL FUMBLE advance reader copies! (The 9th book in the Turkey Trouble series). Lee Harper really scored with the gobbledy-great art in this one! It can be pre-ordered already on Amazon now! Release date is Aug 5!
I had a delightful author visit to the small rural town of Creede Colorado. The beautiful drive there took me along the Silver Thread Scenic byway of old mining camps and high mountain passes, including over the steepest continuously paved road in Colorado up and over Slumgullion pass at 11,530 feet! (I have to come back next Summer or Fall when the Aspen leaves are on the trees!) It was such a delightful character-filled town and I got to enjoy my first snowfall of this year! And every student in the school in grades PreK-6th grade got a Turkey book bought by Mineral County!!

I will be doing a virtual visit with Oceanside School 5 in New York on
Tuesday, Nov. 18. It should be “gobblety-good” fun!
I’ve got two more school visits coming up: November 24 I will be visiting a K-12 school in the small rural town of Creede, CO. And March 26 I will be visiting another small rural town called Collbran, CO. Small schools are often very delightful to visit because you get more small-group interaction!
